Koh Toa: Kayaks, Warm Showers and Cool Vibes.

Incredible veiws
Sea plankton!!

The ride from railay to Koh Tao isn’t too dramatic, however it’s not particularly smooth either. It involves a tail boat, a bus and then a ferry.

Checking into my hostel after a small hike and it’s wonderful, in the jungle, so pretty and easily the nicest place I’ve stayed so far! It even has hot showers, a blessing! I head for dinner with some others and then we head out to a “secret rave” that isn’t particularly secret. A sober night for me, so I stick to the mango juice. I met a lovely gentleman (again from Israel, I’m sensing a trend almost…) and we spent the rest of the evening together. My eyes have been opened by how incredibly polite men are from other countries and how entitled and rude some of the English gentlemen can be (and weird)…

Heading to breakfast a collective decision is made that I should try to learn to ride a bike, so down a quiet road we go. Unfortunately after crashing twice at speeds of less than 20kph it’s decided that actually that’s not the life for me. Which I’m sure for anyone reading that has seen me in a motor vehicle, well it’s not surprising. I would like to learn to ride a bike but maybe its a job for another time.

Kayaks at the ready, and we are off on a turtle hunt. Unfortunately there were no turtles, although a very wonderful sunset was seen, along with the sea plankton coming out to play again (which looks super cool in a little kayak at night!).

After 2 days of unsuccessful attempts to dry my washing due to such sporadic rain showers, I finally cave and take it to a laundry shop to get it dried ready for when I move out tomorrow. Breaky by the sea, followed by 2 hikes. The first a genuine test of my fitness ability and more reason to learn to ride a bike! The second a much easier but more rocky trail, ending with a spectacular view of the island! Running into my pals at the top, for an added bonus.

My final day in Koh Tao is spent on the back of Patricks bike, looking at more view points and beaches, before an incredibly dodgy ride to the pier with my bags! Congrats to us for not dying!
