Newcastle to Forster and a few extra bits x

Big boi

Our first day in Newcastle involved a very early start to catch a bus to Nelsons Bay. Here we explored the Tomarre Head, attempted to climb the summit, where most paths were closed due to works and we ended up off roading until eventually running into builders and having to make our way back down. We did however run into a very big Goanna (lizard) on our adventure.
Next up we took a hike through the National Park, along the coast stopping at the 3 main beaches along the coast. The first being Zenith beach which was completely secluded, with absolutely no one in sight. After a little swim we continued our travels down towards Fingal Beach, but not before having our second wildlife encounter. Finding a pretty big red backed snake in the trees! Slightly scared but not running away we watched him for a while before heading for our picnic of $1 beef, Tinned tuna and $4 pasta, it’s a travellers diet…
Next stop was the Worimi National Park, a 32km span of sand dunes, genuinely making you feel as if you are in the desert while walking through it!
Our evening ended with me and Laura parting ways, with her going off to Brisbane for a few days while I go and stay with my friend from the Greengrocers. But this wasn’t before Laura got her eyes on him as we all met for a drink and an impromtu pub quiz, as he offered to drive to Newcastle for the night. Saving me from another night in a cold dorm.
The second day in Newcastle involved walking 10km along the coastline, from the breakwater, past the bogey hole and along to the memorial walk, before we headed to Forster. We also managed to spot a whale in the distance, it didnt leap out the water though! As I am eyeing Newcastle up as a potential settling spot for me (work depending of course) I wanted to check it out and see if I could see potential. It’s a nice place so we shall have to wait and see..
My Forster adventure included a variety of different spots, including a day trip to seal rocks (which turned out to be pretty, but absolutely tiny!), we did however get to see three whales from the lighthouse, absolutely massive things but incredibly slow and majestic! And a walk along Barrington Topps, which should come as no surprise as Greengrocer boy is in his element when out walking along green wilderness. Disaster did strike when he had to change his tire in the rain and cold after our walk, however tackling this proved to me he’d be a good person to buddy up with if a zombie apocalypse was to occur. Lazy days took place, which I think we both potentially needed and multiple good meals consumed.
Greengrocer boy is a mystery, and will most certainly have you questioning what on earth is going on in that head of his. Will I see him again? I hope so, but if not, falling for the first Australian man I met probably wasn’t wise.
