The weekend was spent in Brisbane, meeting my friend Josh there before heading to our air bnb, a couple of nights in luxury for my birthday!
We explored the city and ate Greek food before spending Friday night in town, dancing the night away. Originally heading to a very quirky bar, before Josh and I bailed and spent the rest of our time in an Irish bar with cheesy songs. Laura opted to stay at the bar and subsequently brought some of the bar back with her, resulting in me being kicked out of my own bed (typical).
Saturday was filled with regrets, tired eyes and tired people, so a lazy day it was, with home cooked breaky, before we headed to a veiw point to see the city, and subsequently missed the last bus back into the town and had to walk 50 minutes to the closest bus stop. Walking along a main road, in the dark, without phone lights as our main source of protection.. Poor planning from us!
After a homemade curry, we all passed out by 10pm. Sunday was a very rough day as I had what I imagine to be the beginning of a chest infection. The morning was spent wondering the streets before josh headed for his flight, and Laura and I hopped on a bus to the sunshine coast. Opting to stay a few nights in Mooloolaba before heading to Noosa.
Mooloolaba was small but quite pretty, and after a quinoa tuna salad dinner, I opted for a night in, while Laura headed out with some friends we met on the stairs.
The next day, I was on a bucket list task. To go to Australia Zoo, and with Laura hungover in bed, it was a solo adventure. The Zoo has been on my bucket list since I was a kid, as its Steve Irwins Zoo, and I absolutely loved him. It’s an amazing zoo and incredibly ethical. With the highlight being the Croc show, with both birds flying around everywhere and Crocs being fed. The best animals, by far, are the giraffes, tigers, elephants, otters, and dingos. It’s fair to say I left happy and content with the day’s endeavours.
Our final day in Mooloolaba was spent doing a spot of shopping, purchasing some much needed new sandals (a bday prezzie from my dad and Clare) And laura getting her nails done, before walking the trail to Point Cartwright Reserve. Again, missing a bus, this time missing our greyhound bus to Noosa and having to hop on a 2 hour public bus instead. Impeccable timing!
