The ride from Mooloolaba to Noosa was incredibly easy and undramatic, thank god! Our first night in Noosa included drunk bingo, with us winning sweet nothing. Before a hungry, Laura cried at the door of the kitchen as we read the sign that said closed. Sad, and still hungry, it was tuna in a can in bed before we rested our eyes. Laura unfortunately did not rest all that much, as she was awoken to the noise of people getting up to no good next to her (and subsequently put through this sound for the next 2 hours…), luckily I slept through this.
Noosa National Park was next on our hit list, so after a hearty breakfast to fill the void of last night’s kitchen disaster, we head to witness it in all its beauty. The night soon turned to chaos with Room 19 participating in a lock in, with 10L of wine… this ended exactly how you’d imagine it too with 16 people in one room and some serious entertainment was provided.
The next day, Rm 19 headed for a BBQ, with ribs, steak, and burgers on the menu. It was a beautiful evening, filled with giggles and entertainment in the form of a man with a guitar who tried to serenade the girls as he spoke to them (video included). The quote of the evening came from Luca, who in all his glory said “All you need is a bit of fun, a couple beers and good company, and you’re sorted, that’s it”. Wise words from a wise man!
The following day was our 3 day excursion to Fraser Island. Sleeping in tents, driving 4x4s on the beach, and seeing all the sights on the island. Day 1 involved dingos, a beautiful sunset, swimming in freshwater lake (the 2nd clearest in the world), and a dinner of spaghetti bolognese. A late night trip to the beach made for an evening of star watching (in the least light polluted area of the southern hemisphere!).
Day 2 involved a beautiful sunrise, one of the clearest I’d ever seen, a trip to the Champagne Pools, spotting stingrays, and seeing whales jumping at last! Before heading to a freshwater creek and getting to ride in a plane (the only place you can take off and land on a beach). A final stop of at a shipwreck, a boat that was used in WW2 as a hospital before being sold for scrap metal to the Japanese, when a storm unfortunately hit the boat and beached it on Fraser Island, where it has stayed ever since. Our evening was trivia filled before I called it a night as the flu I had caught last week was slowly creeping in…
Our final day of Fraser was a rather wet one. However, this didn’t stop us. But first, the day began with a bird shitting on me (good luck, I await you!). The day involved a swim in the green lake before our ferry back to Noosa. The weekend was a joyous one filled with lots of pretty views and many memories.
Our final night in Noosa involved an incredibly poor BBQ at the hostel, which was sausages in a single piece of white bread.. and Kareoke. I’d never participated in sober kareoke before, however, as I have still found that drinking doesn’t really do much for me, I plucked up the courage, and reminded myself that everyone else was drunk, so they’d most likely forget lol.
