Airlie Beach: Jet Skis, Skateboards, and Good Vibes.

Flipping off jet skis is very fun

Airlie Beach was a skateboarder’s dream, with 3 boardwalks and the smoothest paths known to man. I decided within the first hour that this was going to be how I would pass the majority of my time here.
After lunch with the yacht crew, it was time to say a farewell after a week sailing across the ocean with them. The rest of my day was spent skating on my newly aquired board, sunsets over the marina, 9before finishing the evening book in hand with freshly painted nails. Some self care after a rogue few days was required.
The next morning I arose early to complete the honeyeater lookout trail, a swift 10km ticked off before 10am and a wonderful view, followed by an afternoon of skating (with blisters appearing on every single part of my right foot lol), a spot of shopping at the market where new braclets and rings were purchased, and chilling by the beach lagoon. The evening was spent catching up with multiple friends from back home before a makeshift dinner of rice, veggies, and tuna was created (the traveller diet was well and truly underway again). A joint decision was made in the room to have an early one and save ourselves for bingo the following night, which worked for me as I had big plans the next morning!
Monday came around, and I was up, vegemite beans tried and tested (approved, does not taste like vegemite at all), and I was away. My morning was spent zooming around the Whitsunday Islands at 65 km/hr on a jet ski, and it was the best financial choice of my life. They are, without a doubt, the greatest invention known to mankind! My afternoon involved a walk home, where I met a pet parrot and got to hold him, and a sun bathing session, where I continue to attempt to rectify some poor tan lines I’ve acquired from my bicycle shorts. The evening’s meal was a mix of green beans, zucchini, mushrooms, tomato pasta, and tuna, not too bad…The evening was spent playing bingo, where again I was one point away from winning… With my bunk mate on the look out for girls, a deal was made that nothing would be occurring in our room, a deal that was stuck to allowing me to rise at 5am the next morning, for my bus, free from any potential hostel related trauma.
