Living in Newy Pt.2

Sunrise

In an attempt to expand the social circle, a bumble bff date has occurred (yes, we are now in a time where you can swipe for friends, isn’t it mad). I met up with an Aussie girl at a point of view nearby that I hadn’t discovered yet and watching and painting the sunset. A wholesome Thursday evening activity to round off the day. Another trip to Sydney took place, this time with me and Josh heading to see Luke Kidgell, an Australian comedian I’d been dying to see. And after 8 months, we were finally sitting pissing ourselves at him! The weekend continued, staying over in Manly (Northern Sydney, the better half!). The days passed with Indian food, the Spit bridge to Manly walk (one of my favs), and finished with painting at Shelly Beach. A staycation away to Jervis Bay was planned for the following week, following a wee dip in the mental health department. A few days away from life.

Trying to find a balance between work and life (or work and mental well-being, lol) has continued. My days off were spent with friends at the beach or painting, or at the gym and its various fitness classes. Finally joining a local gym, knowing it was good for my little brain. A spot of retail shopping occured, with new beach attire called for (although shopping is a nightmare in regard to finding stuff that fits, so after trying on approx 25 items I came away with 6 lol). Sunsets were watched, footy (or as the English would call it rugby league). Games were attended. Multiple books read from the free outdoor libraries here (the best invention of mankind), smashing through one in a week at one point. Me and Freddy (my teddy bear) went to the dentist to have my troublesome wisdom tooth out, and 3 days later, I got a dry socket and thus had a rather painful mouth for a week. A day spent at Warners Bay to see the famous Lake Macquarie (it’s a big lake) followed by sushi and doughnuts. An action-packed week began, starting with a trip down the central coast, visiting Munmorah State Park, Caves beach, and Catherine Hill Bay. Many beautiful sights were seen, cliff edges explored, and sea creatures found. Friends came to visit, bar crawls attempted, mildly hungover spin classes attended following by showing my friends the coastal walk of newy. A bbq attended, with disappointment from the footy score made slightly better with a few drinking games and, of course dildo being taught to all. Finishing off my long weekend with a skate down the fernleigh track through the old railway tunnel, experiencing actual euphoria on the way back as its a 3k track of slight descent (no push offs, just pure gliding for 10 minutes!). Another evening skate watching the sunset ended with 2 lads on electric skateboards slowing down and asking if i wanted to go any faster, each grabbing a side of me and zooming me down the path at 20ks, the kindness of strangers is cool. Art galleries were visited, late night skates with friends occurred, and date nights at bowling were had. A few days away in Forster, with me finding great amusement at the local children’s park (see video lol). The first festival of the summer was attended, seeing the Wombats live and reminiscing about all the times I’d watched them back home. A sunrise dip and a sunset run in the rain, a candle lit string orchestra watched, and many a game of scrabble played.

It’s been a very up and down 2 months for various reasons. But it’s been fun all the same. I made the most of my days off to see my surroundings while working hard to save my pennies for a very exciting few months ahead!
