The (maybe) final weeks in Newy!

Christmas

On return from my trip in Tasmania it was all systems go, with me moving house that week. Swapping my house in Cooks Hill for a place in Merewether, further from work but way closer to the beach, a nice place to spend my final weeks in this city I’ve called home for the last 6 months. The house move was a shambles if I’m honest, with shit absolutely everywhere as the boys had lived there for 2 years, and cleaning 2 years of dirt of a window skirting board was as successful as you imagine in your heads right now. Luckily my deposit was returned (after a wee kick off lol). 2 of 4 of the weeks in my new place were actually spent living alone, as my house met left for the Christmas period, and after this experience I’ve definitely found that living alone is the best care free life, especially in such a nice little place. I’ll most likely not live alone again for a long time, so it was a blessed time.

My days were spent in the most wholesome ways, sunrises at the beach, reading my books, going for skates or a dip in the sea. A trip down to Sydney took place as I went to see Sarp play a final in his AFL game, the longest sporting event I’ve ever watched (totalling 4 hours), and not having the sweetest idea what was happening the whole time, however he won and its all about supporting the boys! A fair few PB’s were hit in the gym as well, including pull ups, pistol squats and the rope climb (big moves from myself I must say and movements that made me fall in love with the gym again). Days at work were less than the norm as shifts got cancelled over the Christmas period, however the shifts I did work were absolutely solid so I think an upper power knew I needed the break. The amount of skills I’ve gained working in the public sector over the last few months is quite astonishing, working in specialities I would have never thought of going near but yet really enjoying (or absolutely hating lol).

Christmas Eve was spent with friends, eating tasty food and meeting new people, while Christmas Day was spent on the beach, playing card games, beach volleyball, swimming in thunderstorms and retreating home at the end of the day to enjoy my second roast dinner of the day (yes i cooked a roast dinner for one, yes it was tasty and yes it was worth the effort). Overall and very merry and wholesome Christmas time. Boxing Day was spent with Michael with burger dates on the cards, coastal walks and ocean swims. The days between Christmas and new year were spent working, having some of the most challenging shifts I’ve ever had, but again its all a huge learning experience. New Year’s Eve was spent with friends, watching the Newcastle fireworks before heading to the beach for a BBQ. Chatting to pals, listening to good music and eating 12 grapes for good luck. A broken bike was located somewhere along the way so many a bike push was had. Again an incredibly wholesome night with friends before i had to walk 5km home as an Uber was going to cost $86 lol.

My final week in Newy included spending some days with Michael before I departed for a month ish. Our days included sunrise runs (where I believe we both nearly died), beach days, ocean swims, many a peep show episode and some tasty food cooked (with healthy eating a New Year’s resolution of his) (I made him create at least one resolution, I have approx 7). My things were packed into a suitcase and sent off to Michaels house, leaving just me and my rucksack once again. My final 2 days are work were easy followed by incredibly hard and busy, so going out with a balance which adequately describes the healthcare system lol. Before heading to Sydney to crash at a friends for the night before my flight to my next travel location!
