A week in Broome – bike rides, dinosaur footprints, and fun!

Our first day in Broome ended with us eating pizza on the beach, watching a rather sub-par sunset (a cloudy day!). The night came to a close after some games of pool at the hostel before we all ventured to our beds for the first night on a mattress in 3 weeks! A blessing!

Our second day was very action packed, 6 of us headed for brunch before Justine headed for the airport for her 4 day travel back home! A sad goodbye but happy memories to remain! We strolled around the shops seeing what broome town had to offer, before heading back to the hostel for a chill day, some played chess, some people read books and I painted my nails and organised my washing, before a much needed catch up with my favorite human and her little humans back home! We then all headed out to watch the sunset and get some dinner! The restaurant of choice was a South American restaurant. We unfortunately didn’t booked. However, we made it work by sitting at the bar. Full bellies, $500, 2 cocktails, and 2 shots later we left to return home to play some games. We all played some intense games of dildo before retreating to bed. A night of good rest occurred, still lapping up the fact we had a mattress!

Our 3rd day was another busy but fun day, we said goodbye to Monica, who was flying home, before going to hire some bicycles! We hired mountain bikes and cycled a total of about 17km, going to a place called Ganthuem Point where you can climb the rocks to see dinosaur footprints! We found some which were very cool! We chilled on the beach and also had a picnic on the cliffs. We cycled back to Town Beach, where we met up with Tim and had a dinner of market food. Market food is the best food, non negotiable. Tim did not have a bike, so he road my bike home, and I jumped on the back, luckily, with Tim being Dutch his bicycle experience meant no crashes occurred during this activity!

The next day was a big chill day, spending time at cable Beach, eating lunch, and watching the sunset before going to the local brewery for a beer! We then, of course, played some more card games before calling it a night!

Another chill day followed, I’d finished my book the day before and had found two books in the hostel book shelf that were recommended to me, so I spent the day sun bathing and reading my books, before me and Jordan spent a lovely evening together cooking Pho, before heading to the cinema to watch the new deadpool in Australia’s oldest outdoor cinema! We also said goodbye to Tim and Axel this day, which was a very sad moment, the last of the group to depart who weren’t continuing on for the next stint of the journey! Axel and Tim were my camp buddies from day one, and probably the 2 people I got closest to at first. It was a pleasure having them, aswell as Monica and Justine on the trip! Some really sound, well-rounded people that just had a heart of gold, and I look forward to seeing them all again someday <3.

Another chilled day followed before me, Jordan, and Kaitlyn went out to a local bar/club. We met up with my friend Layla, who I met on the east coast some months before. We spent the night dancing the evening away before heading to our beds in the hope of no hangover to follow!

My final day in Broome was another chilled day, topping up the tan reading my books before a pizza date in the evening with our group for the next bus to darwin. Me, Jordan, and Kaitlyn would be continuing north, along with Louisa and Louis from another share bus, who we had seen a few times on the way up from Perth. We were also joined by Gabby and Dreagus, an American and Irish, making us a group of 7. We all had a chit-chat before calling it a night in prep for the days ahead!
