A Solo Travellers Mind

After cleaning the van and handing our mobile home back to the sharebus, we headed to our hostel! Everyone was in the same hostel, except Dreagus, who would be bunking elsewhere. We checked in and showered, and the party began (and subsequently continued for 4 days). We had some drinks in the hostel before Me and Luisa headed out to the piano bar, a very cool bar, where the guys played and sang, and we all danced. They are actually the same guys that play at the piano bar in Byron Bay if you cast your memory back to my Bryon blog over a year ago! It was a Saturday so very busy, and very fun. We then headed to Shenanigans, the greatest bar on earth. It’s an Irish bar next to our hostel, and it is the place me and Luisa would call home for 4 days! We danced the night away, meeting a Greek God of a man, who unfortunately ran away before Luisa had her chance to swoop in. The night continued meeting many aussie fitties, and one South African dilf (I advise all family members to not google what dilf means, thank you). The bar closed, and we headed for some late night snackage of spring rolls. Luisa pushed me home in a trolley before we sat up, having some delightful chit chats till 3:30am.

Our first full day in Darwin was a big one. The Beer can regatta was on, an annual event where people race boats built from beer cans! Me and josh shot gunned our first beer at 12pm, setting the scene for the day ahead! Me, Luisa, and Josh got involved in the days events, par taking in the kayak race, where i actually came 4th, being beaten by 3 6ft men! Im classing it as a win for the girls! Kaitlyn and Jordan joined the fun when they stepped in for the relay race, where you had to down iced coffee before running, luckily i avoided the drinking and just did the running, thank god because coffee is not my thing! More drinks were had as we headed to the infinity pool for sunset, slightly under prepared for the pool part and thus going for a fully clothed dip. We had some dinner of pesto pasta before all heading out for the night to replay the night before. First up was the piano bar, then Shenanigans, followed by going to the local club Monsoons. I was aquanted with an Australian boy, as we danced the night away, before beam scootering my way back home at 6 am. On return to the hostel, I found Luisa and Jordan still awake, so we shared gossip from the night and had a snack of humous and egg wraps before bedtime!

The next morning, we had a wonderful breaky of eggs, baked beans, avo, and spinach. The day was an admin day, finally doing some washing and chilling all day by the pool. We had a lovely tofo curry for dinner, cooked up by Luisa before me Luisa, Dreagus, Jordan, and Josh went out to dance the night away again. This time, it started in Shenanigans, and it ended in a place called May Berry, after attempting to get into a club but being refused entry (the perks of partying with fools…) At 3am, we called it a night, and I headed back with Dreagus. We had some beers by the pool, chatted shit for hours, and had some giggles before finally heading to bed at 6 am! (I also some what injured my leg, I’ll spare the graphics, but Im still nursing the injury over a week later, lol). Unfortunately, I had to check out my hostel at 10 am, which meant me and Dreagus were up just 2 hrs after going to bed. A very tired human was present! We said our goodbyes, laughing about the carnage of our time together.

My final day in Darwin was a very hungover one, as 3 days on the booze would predict. I checked out the hostel and into Luisa bed for a nap before we headed to Alexander Lake to spend the final day together! We went to a local sunset roof top bar for dinner (it had free food, crazy I know), before having one last final moment in Shenanigans. Saying goodbye to Luisa was a very sad moment, having put our silly pants on together in Darwin and sharing some very crazy NSFW moments together! I said farewell to Jordan, who I had spent the last 7 weeks with, another very heart breaking good bye but not forever as we had plans to hike some mountains in the UK when I return in a year <3. Darwin was a crazy fun time, and I will for sure be returning one day with my silly pants on!
